Indigenous people is called "Orang Asal" in Malaysia, means "original people". Orang Asal generally includes "Orang Asli" in Peninsular Malaysia and those residing in East Malaysia - Sabah and Sarawak.
In Peninsular Malaysia, minority indigenous people comprise only 0.7% of the population of malaysia. Whereas in East Malaysia, indigenous people form majority of the population - approximately 60% of Sabah's population and 50% of Sarawak's population. Making up 11% of Malaysia population.
